Who We Are
From its founding in 1991 with five employees, Step2 has grown to become one of the largest U.S. rotomolding manufacturer of plastics, employing over 700 team members. The custom manufacturing arm of the company, Step2 Custom, is an important part of the company’s evolution, bringing the power of scale and the expertise fine-tuned with home & garden products and toy creation to a broader B2B customer base.

TWO PLANT LOCATIONS
The Northeast Ohio facility in Streetsboro helms the Corporate Headquarters and supports continuous manufacturing operation 7 days a week, and is the home for Sales, Project Management, Design, Engineering and Support Teams.
The Central Ohio location is based in Perrysville, with a dedicated manufacturing facility. We run 12 rotomolding machines of various sizes to accommodate multiple part sizes.
What We Do
With over 30 years of experience creating custom rotomolded plastic products, Step2 works closely with our customers as a trusted resource. Whether you’re looking for a project you can hand off to experts, to take from concept and design to manufacturing and distribution, or just need a partner to get your existing tooling running as soon as possible, Step2 Custom can configure the right solution.
Materials Management
Resin is delivered to each facility through convenient rail access. Stored on-site in dedicated silos, a vacuum transfer system delivers the resin to be pulverized into powder. The resin is then transferred to our mixers where dry blend pigment is introduced to color the powder
Keeping this process in-house allows us to respond to orders and color requests in a timely manner without long lead times. We regrind and reuse up to 95% of our post-molded waste.
On-Site Mold Framing and Maintenance
On-site mold preparation and maintenance supports new tooling development and construction, and product sampling.
Keeping these capabilities in-house allows quick turnaround with less downtime and tighter control of the process.
Automation
Our use of automation provides better part consistency with automated drilling, cutting and trimming.
Our automation processes include: a multi-pallet 6-axis robotic router, automated horizontal bandsaw and a 3-axis CNC router.
Distribution & Logistics
We’ve fine-tuned the “getting it to you” process, utilizing our 100,000+ square feet of warehouse to get product out via LTL, or Drop Ship direct to retailer or distribution centers. Being affiliated with consumer company Step2 allows us to pass on the efficiencies of warehousing and distribution to lower your custom product’s overhead.
